An American Creed

I Do Not Choose to Be a Common Man

It is my right to be uncommon—if I can.

I seek opportunity—not security.

I do not wish to be a kept citizen, humbled and dulled by having the state look after me.

I want to take the calculated risk; to dream and to build, to fail and to succeed.

I refuse to barter incentive for a dole.

I prefer the challenges of life to the guaranteed existence; the thrill of fulfillment to the stale calm of utopia.

I will not trade freedom for beneficence nor my dignity for a handout.

I will never cower before any master nor bend to any threat.

It is my heritage to stand erect, proud and unafraid; to think and act for myself, enjoy the benefit of my creations and to face the world boldly and say, “This I have done.”

"Wake up, America" - author anonymous

"There are things happening in the world today, things we cannot begin to understand the rationale for, things that go beyond morality and immorality, beyond power and freedom, beyond Republican and Democrat. This country drifts closer and closer to a place where it should not go.

As the government gains more direct control, we begin to lose something that this country was founded upon. The very ideals that strengthened this country and gave it its root principles are being washed away by greed and corruption.

I realize that many believe that the government should have more involvement in our daily lives. Government regulation of gas prices is not a good idea, however. This is one of the many methods of coercement that is being put upon the people because the government knows that people are lazy and would not mind total control if it did not affect them directly.

And it doesn't affect you directly.

At least...
...not yet.

But if a government were to gain enough power, then a few individuals would be nothing to them. Strike that, a few individuals ARE nothing to them.

You see, people have to understand that this is not going to stop.

How long will it take for people to do what is necessary?

Wake up, America.

You've not got much longer to sleep."

What is Shtoonk?

Shtoonk is an odd word that I remember from a Mad magazine from years ago. There was a set of stickers and one simply said "Remember, Shtoonk is always spelled with two O's."

As weird and as random as this statement is, it has always stuck with me.

So what's this blog going to be about? Shtoonk if I know!
